That Donald Duck orgasm thing (unsurprisingly, it's still around - http://odeo.com/episodes/5643213). Because it was under 150k, so I could download it from Naspter on my 56k modem without taking up the phoneline all night. And I was about 13.

But that's probably not what you meant.

I remember downloading Bruce Spingsteen from Napster very early on to show my Mum what it was all about.

As to what I was downloading for my own musical tastes, it's probably best for me not to remember...

I haven't been to MusicTank in a while. I last went on a different mission to GigPay. Anyway, having been to OpenMusicMedia, I can say that I feel your sentiments about it's format. It's a good format and because of that, whatever the topic I don't mind going.

I like it, hype and last.fm have similar user functionality and it's lovely - then syndicated into your personal webspace / social network - it makes for a very interesting method of music consumption.

The infamous Matt Neale tipped me off about your blog. i've jsut come back from ReBoot in Denmark where I saw Alex and Eric from SoundCloud speaking 'On Sounds and Clouds'.
They talked about the notion of music moving past mp3-style 'remediation' in to a world where the content is liberated through sprees of bulk licensing. They're attempting to enrich msuic by rolling it up in "snowballs of context".

Oh, you link to Eric's blog - they've embedded the presentation from ReBoot there if you fancy a gander.

I had a brief chat with Alex afterwards about incorporating alot of their ideas in to both virtual-and-physical experiences (eg Last.FM send you a personalised one-off edition of your music listening habits, neighbours, likes etc. every month).

Aaaaaaaanyway, I must return to doing some work now - could you fire a SoundCloud invite my way please?
